Detective Inspector Madden of the Brighton police is horrified to discover that the victim of a murder he is called to investigate turns out to be his own son, Jason. He subsequently discovers that his son was working as a male escort. Stricken with guilt at having not been the best father - and wrestling with jealousy that arises from his ex-wife marrying another man, Madden sets out to tind his son's killer, believing that his colleagues have arrested the wrong man... Madden's search takes him into the world of night-clubs, drugs, prostitution and the flat of a really rather glamorous transsexual, named Ming. Everyone - including the beautiful French wife of a multi-millionaire who was buying Jason's services - is a suspect. The story ends with a dramatic confrontation between Madden and his son's murderer.
Glenn Chandler was born in Edinburgh and began writing for television in 1980 with a commission from Scottish Television for a play The Horseman's Word. Best known as the creator and writer of the award-winning and highly praised Taggart series, he has also contributed to such memorable series as Angels and Crown Court. He has ventured into true crime with Yorkshire TV's The Life and Crimes ofWilliam Palmer and A is for Acid, contributions to Granada's In Suspicious Circumstances, and a book, Burning Poison.
