To dig up the truth behind the mysterious death of a senator's daughter, private investigator Rachel Anderson is going back to school. Passing herself off as a transfer student at the small, prestigious college, the troubled girl last attended - funded by the powerful Shepherd's Cross Ministry - Rachel finds the secluded campus almost too idyllic, and the girls invited to participate in the "Eve's Circle" honours group too perfect. Too feminine. Too obedient. Not only obedient - completely submissive...Before long she realizes that some of the female students recruited to Shepherd's Cross have been abducted and brainwashed, not as the perfect wives Rachel imagined, but the perfect partners for men whose appetites are dark and sexual. But putting an end to the shocking operation requires more than just a cover - and it means trusting the brooding Elijah Trent, a CIA operative also working the campus from the inside. Together, they plan to expose the ministry's unspeakable secret, a crime which reaches outside U.S. borders and into the realm of pure evil...

Paola Monzini Sex Traffic - Prostitution, Crime, & Exploitation. Published November 2005 by Zebra Books at £32.95 and £9.99 ISBN: 184277624X and 1842776258

Paola Monzini's new book focuses on the experiences of migrant women and girls who have very little choice or control over their The trafficking of women and girls for prostitution is big business. This book focuses on the experiences of migrant women and girls who have very little choice or control over their lives. In the context of neo-liberal globalization, they are the new 'slaves' of the contemporary era. The annual worth of this global industry is now estimated to be in the region of $7 billion, making it particularly attractive to organised crime networks. Women are forced to compete for work in conditions of extreme sexual exploitation, often being exposed to risky sexual practices, high levels of HIV, violence and murder. The laws of the marketplace are applied with extreme brutality. This book examines the techniques of recruitment, methods of transportation, and forms of exploitation abroad, and focuses on women's own experiences of migration. It explains the mechanisms of supply and demand and assesses attempts at controlling trafficking and strategies for resistance and change.

Paola Monzini is a sociologist with a PhD in social and political science from the European University Institute. She has worked as a consultant for both the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia, the Italian law-enforcement agency fighting organized crime, and more recently, as a researcher in the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). Monzini's primary research interests are the social and political aspects of transnational organised crime, illegal markets and migration issues. This is her second book.
