Wensley Clarkson Mother Dearest Pbk published March 2007 by Blake Pub at £7.99 ISBN: 1857822153

The bond between a mother and daughter is like no other. But in the case of the Knorr family, with deranged and deluded mother Theresa Knorr at its head, the love and trust that a child naturally places in a parent was grotesquely betrayed under a perverse and terrible set of circumstances. To friends and neighbours, dark-haired Theresa was a devoted, loving mother struggling to bring up five children on her own. Little did they know that, behind closed doors, the same woman was driven by religious extremism, terrible paranoia and an all-consuming jealousy of her daughters' beauty that led to one of the worst cases of serial abuse and murder in history. This is the true story of a family unit twisted out of all recognition by a mother who perpetrated the most evil of crimes. A story that would not have been told was it not for one surviving daughter.

Wensley Clarkson The Predator Published February 2007 by Blake Pub at £17.99 ISBN: 1844542904

This is the horrifying true story of a serial killer who left a trail of bodies across the globe. He eluded authorities for more than a quarter of a century until he was finally brought to justice after murdering British schoolgirl Caroline Dickinson in a French youth hostel. Francisco Arce Montes was a twisted, rejected loner with an addiction to murder. Only when he was finally caught, for the murder of Caroline, did the authorities uncover his trail of victims from Europe to South America. It is now believed that Montes was responsible for more than two dozen killings - his victims were always female and the attacks were all sexually motivated. Although those that knew him described him as a quiet, polite, softly spoken loner, Montes' cold, dark stare spoke volumes about the man that lay beneath. In this shocking and fascinating book, acclaimed true crime author, Wensley Clarkson, reveals the full story of this deeply disturbed sexual predator and serial murderer: how Montes was banished from his home town, how his first attack on a young girl led to a consensual relationship and to her bearing his first child, his first brushes with the law and how ultimately he managed to spread horror far and wide evading justice until now. Based on over 100 hours of exclusive interviews - including the killer himself and his shamed family, this is the definitive account of the world's only global serial killer.

Geoff Garvey Nowhere to Hide Published March 2007 by Blake Pub at £17.99 ISBN: 1844543293

Geoff Garvey records the criminal cases that have been solved by the development of forensic profiling and have led to the prosecution of some of the UK's most dangerous criminals. Fibres and DNA evidence proved crucial in the investigation of M25 rapist, Antoni Imiela, in the biggest linked police inquiry since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper 20 years ago. Imiela was caught and convicted of seven rapes, kidnap and indecent assault on victims as young as ten - he was given life. When the mutilated body of 90 year old Mabel Leyshon was found laid out in her home in a ritualised fashion, which included the removal of her heart, police were left with only a partial footprint to go on. But, when they looked closely at the saucepan that was used to collected the victim's blood, they found the presence of a lip mark on its edge. This macabre finding gave the police an insight into a motive that was ultimately linked with vampirism. Matthew Hardman was later arrested and sentenced to life. Amazingly from thousands of individual pieces of evidence collected from crime scenes, the most significant can be as small as a single dog hair or as random as a flake of paint. In the case of Sarah Payne, 500 items were submitted for analysis and over 20 forensic experts were employed during the enquiry in the fields of entomology, pathology, geology, archaeology, environmental profiling and oil/lubricant analysis - fibres of clothing and one single human hair led to the conviction of her killer Roy Whiting.

Eric Mason Inside the Underworld Published March 2007 by Blake Pub at £17.99 ISBN: 1844543501

Eric Mason, a close friend and long-time member of the Kray twins' inner circle, is an underworld legend and a hardened 'old face' in his own right and has spent, in total, over thirty years behind bars. At 24, he awoke to find himself strapped into a body belt in a strong box where he was forced to suffer two days without any food and two whole weeks without the use of his hands or access to a toilet. He was flogged four times and was also the last man to endure the excessive pain of the cat o' nine tails. In this autobiography, he vividly describes the agony of these tortures and the other atrocities he suffered at the hands of the penal system that existed in the forties, fifties and sixties. Eric first got to know the Kray twins during one of these horrific stints in Wandsworth prison, and upon his release he quickly became one of their closest associates. He moved on to form associations with Frank (The Mad Axeman) Mitchell, Jack 'The Hat' McVitie, John McVicar and the Great Train Robbery gang. In this honest and revealing book, Eric takes the reader into the criminal underworld, introduces us to many of the famous gangster characters and paints an intimate and intriguing picture of what a gangster's life was really like. Using his insight into the Kray twins' lives, he dispels several of the rumours surrounding their actions and insists that they were not vindictive individuals but a likeable pair who were considered heroes by nearly everyone who knew them. Fresh from fighting a campaign to clear his name after a recent drug-related conviction, this is his gripping true story.

W M Moran Rachel - A Stolen Life: The Killing of Rachel Moran Published March 2007 by Blake Pub at £17.99 ISBN: 1844543404

This book tells a story of an ordinary girl from an ordinary family who died in the most extraordinary circumstances - a mother's story of the gruesome murder of her beloved daughter. On the morning of New Year's Day 2003, my youngest daughter, Rachel, left the family home at 1.45 am. Having spent New Year's Eve celebrating with her brother, Rachel had arranged to stay at the family home, but decided instead to walk back to her own small apartment, which she shared with her long-term partner, to feed her new kittens which were home alone. Against my wishes, Rachel set out on her own for the short journey, promising to call when she arrived home. It should have been no more that twenty minutes. I waited and then, I called her landline, and then her mobile, but to no avail. I called the police who mounted a search. It was two weeks before her belongings were fished out of a nearby drain and another two weeks before her body was discovered. At some stage during that twenty minute walk, she had been abducted a mere 200 yards from her own front door - raped and stabbed until she was dead. The perpetrator was a complete stranger to her and she to him. He had moved into the area a mere three months earlier and his apartment was visible from Rachel's own. We will never know how he lured her to his flat, all we do know is that she was killed and discovered there. Her body was found hidden in a utility cupboard where she had lain for a month in a filthy duvet cover, with her killer continuing to live in the flat. He was later tired for her murder and received life in October 2003.
