Paperweight Vol II
Stephen Fry Paperweight Vol II Published August 99 by Random House Audio at £8.99 ISBN: 1856865010
Read by the Author
Over the years, when not prancing over stage and screen, nor flowing ink from his gifted pen, Stephen Fry has written oodles of articles and items for magazines, newspapers and radio.
This is the second volume of his witty, incisive, luxuriatingly sarcastic articles from the pages of the Listener and Daily Telegraph - a perfect accompaniment to any enjoyable few hours.
As the title suggests, Paperweight will make a handy desk-top accessory, an ideal pulling device to show one's sensitivity and sophistication, a balancing tool to wedge under that wobbly table, a friendly guacamole into which the tired and hungry reader might happily dip the tortilla chip of his curiosity whenever the fancy takes him. Used without caution, it is also a murder weapon - place four unsuspecting victims in the same room, insert tape to tape player, press play, cunningly bung your ears full of loo roll and watch as your hapless fellows weep in hysteria until they dehydrate to death…
Now a household name, Stephen Fry is an incredibly popular author and personality. if one needs reminding, TV and film credits include: A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Blackadder, Jeeves and Wooster and his starring role in Peter 's Friends. His hobbies include cooking his godchildren and leaving out commas.

'Appallingly funny' Daily Telegraph
'Fry is by turns observer, humorist, reviewer, philosopher, parodist, autobiographer, academic, scourge, clown and, as often as not, an antic amalgam of all these and more, and his variant style conforms flawlessly with each selected role' Alan Coren, Literary Review
'A joyous collaboration of winging humour and sarcasm' Mail in Sunday
'Huge, crammed, wise, hilarious and utterly captivating' Literary Review

1815: With the death of his Beloved uncle, Sir Richard Bolitho, killed in action aboard his flagship Frobisher on the very day of Bonaparte's return to France, Adam Bolitho's life seems empty and without purpose.
In command of the newly commissioned frigate Unrivalled, Adam is ordered to the Mediterranean, where every landfall will remind him of what he and England have lost. Waterloo and the final defeat of the old enemy brings little relief to the navy as piracy, slavery and disagreement amongst the allies make heavy demands on Unrivalled and her captain. Adam soon learns that his uncle's patronage protected him from other enemies, envy, greed and hate, which he must now fight with no less vigour than a full broadside.
